Position Information
Beverly Hills Intensive English Centre is a coeducational specialised school for new arrivals of secondary school age. It is located on-site of Beverly Hills Girls High School in South West Sydney which is a comprehensive girls high school of approximately 900 female students 7-12. Beverly Hills Intensive English Centre currently has an enrolment of 220 migrant, refugee and international students with capacity to extend enrolment to 250 students. The school provides English language tuition, orientation, settlement and wellbeing programs to prepare students for transition to NSW secondary schools. The school’s quality intensive English program is based on the Intensive English Programs Curriculum Framework and referenced to NESA syllabus outcomes. Qualified EAL/D teachers teach English through a range of secondary school subject areas adapted for additional language learners to provide students with subject orientation for high school.
Selection Criteria
- In addition to the general selection criteria,
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of the senior executive team to effectively initiate, lead, motivate and monitor implementation of the school improvement plan and strategic directions.
- Proven capacity to be a visible leader to drive initiatives that enhance teacher capacity, support student wellbeing and build engagement with parents, caregivers and the wider community.
- Outstanding communication, prioritisation, management and organisational skills to effectively lead the complex day to day operations of the Intensive English Centre and capacity to plan, develop and implement quality organisational structures and processes.
- Deep understanding of an Intensive English Centre with demonstrated experience in proactively developing and leading a staff of diverse experience and backgrounds and implementing procedures that support the delivery of high- quality teaching and learning
General Selection Criteria
- Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
- Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
- Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
- Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
- Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
- Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
