About the Role
School Learning Support Officers provide support for students with identified diverse learning needs including disability in classrooms and other learning environments under the direction and supervision of a teacher to support the achievement of educational outcomes. This support includes student welfare, health and wellbeing activities as required. In addition School Learning Support Officers may provide specific support for students in the following streams or settings: pre-school, vision support, hearing support, and bilingual. Student Learning Support Officers working in these streams/settings have specific additional duties, in addition to the general duties for School Learning Support Officers.
Additional School Information
Mount Druitt Public School is located in Western Sydney and is part of the Blacktown Local Government Area. It has a student enrolment of 551. Students come from a wide range of socio-economic backgrounds with 3% of students identifying as Aboriginal and 70% from English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD). In 2021 there will be three support classes consisting of one Early Intervention Unit and two Multi Categorical classes with a focus on inclusion and challenging students to support their learning. Two Preschool classes cater for 40 full time children. Each child is valued and respected as a unique, capable and competent learner and encouraged to participate in play through all aspects of our preschool program.
