Position Information

This is a Primary Classroom Position at Tenambit Public School.

Tenambit Public School is committed to delivering excellence within a rich and supportive learning environment. Tenambit Public School is located in the Maitland area and is on Wonnarua Land. It has a current enrolment of 362 students and has 27% of students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. This diversity of cultural and language backgrounds leads to a rich immersion in learning opportunities for all students. The school setting includes a MC class, an ED class and a Hearing class and is the base school for an ITHS team.

The school community is committed to working together to support students and families within a wellbeing framework. The school has a strong connected community with a vibrant and supportive Parent and Community Organisation who work together in a strong and authentic partnership.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach infants and primary (K-6) with a demonstrated ability to deliver high quality, differentiated literacy and numeracy programs using evidence based and data informed practices to deliver point of need learning to improve student outcomes.
  2. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative team, reflect on teaching practice and build positive relationships with students, staff and the community.
  3. Capacity and willingness to support whole school programs and extra-curricular activities, including choir, band, dance, and drama, to strengthen school culture and a sense of community.
  4. Demonstrated knowledge of the DoE policies and priorities regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education and demonstrated ability to ensure cultural perspectives are evident in both classroom and teaching and learning programming.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
