Sir David Brand School is seeking to establish a pool of Education Assistant - Special Needs for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2022.
As an Education Assistant – Special Needs you would have a strong, positive and supportive attitude and will be proactive about working with the Teacher and Specialists to help provide an inclusive and supportive learning environment for students. Suitable applicants will, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs. They will, when required, provide feedback on educational programs and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals.

The Sir David Brand School team conducts thorough needs assessments to inform the innovative programs we design to suit each student's needs. Our inclusive curriculum embraces the Australian curriculum, the Early Years Framework, ABLEWA, TEACCH and digital technologies. We have developed a school-based EXPRESS communication tool for students with complex communication needs who are working towards foundation level. Intensive early intervention programs are available for students in the early years of schooling.

Education Assistants working with Kindergarten students may be required to have, or be actively working towards, a Certificate lll in Education Support (or approved equivalent) in order to meet the educator-to-student ratio outlined in the National Quality Standard for Early Childhood Education and Care.
