Valkyrie is located in the Isaac Regional Shire; approximately 144 kilometres from Mackay. It is part of the larger Central Highlands district which encompasses 17 unique communities including the towns of Clermont, Coppabella, Dysart, Glenden, Middlemount, Moranbah and St Lawrence. The town is best known for cattle grazing but is also supported by a coal mine in the western parts of the locality.
Coppabella is a small community that sits 159 kilometres from Mackay. Coppabella was designed to service the junction of two railways lines from the surrounding mines. The town is owned and operated by Queensland Rail with the name even being decided by the companies General Manager at the time. The Valkyrie and Coppabella townships allow you to experience the best of the welcoming hospitality rural Central Queensland has to offer.
