Do you have what it takes to improve the learning outcomes of students with disabilities and learning difficulties?
Carine Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistants - Special Needs (EASN) for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 2, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 2, 2022.
EASN are required to assist teachers in the delivery of planned education programs in inclusive settings, and implement individual student or small group programs. Suitable applicants may also, under teacher direction, assist in the implementation of specialised education programs such as occupational therapy, speech therapy and physiotherapy programs. The EASN at our school are line managed and well supported by a full time Level 3 Learning Centre Manager. The ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively within a large team of education assistants is key to this role.
Our EASN will, when required, provide feedback on education and therapy programs, and participate in the evaluation process relating to the achievement of goals in special education as per a student’s individual education plan. They will assist the teacher or therapist to understand when there is communication difficulty between them and a student. Furthermore, having experience in delivering direct instruction to identified groups of students at literacy risk, or the willingness to learn and develop this skill, would be highly desirable.
Carine SHS represents the very best that government schools have to offer and is a proud independent public school as evidenced by winning the WA Secondary School of the Year in 2017. The school has a very high student retention rate, an experienced staff and an active School Council, made up of students, parents, staff and community members. The school has achieved an enviable reputation for academic achievement that reflects a successful pathway for every student and employs a wrap around pastoral care approach.

A strong public education system is the cornerstone of every successful society. We provide high quality education for children and young people throughout Western Australia, helping them reach their full potential.
We have more than 800 schools in communities across our State – in bustling city and regional centres and in some of the most remote parts of the world. Comprehensive schools, selective schools and education support schools. As our population grows, we're building new schools and developing state-of-the-art facilities for children to learn in. Modern schools using the latest and emerging technologies.
Each school, like each community, is distinctive. Parents and communities play a key role in creating a unique ethos for their school. They help shape the school's directions. The principal selects the best teachers and support staff for the school and funding is driven by the learning needs of students.
