THE OPPORTUNITY

The Senior Java Developer is responsible for developing and maintaining large, complex corporate systems that facilitate the achievement of TAFE’s core business through the use of process and technology.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for an enthusiastic Senior Java Developer with extensive experience in Java, Wildfly and bespoke Java applications including experience in delivering solutions end-to-end (design through to deployment and support).

You will have strong interpersonal skills, analytical and problem solving ability and will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders to build and maintain effective partnerships, provide advice and resolve issues.

You have the ability to influence, be creative and a strategic thinker who is a natural problem solver. You enjoy building trusting relationships, collaborating with stakeholders and taking initiative.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree qualification in related field or equivalent significant experience.
  • Extensive experience in Java, Wildfly and bespoke Java applications.
  • Strong competency with relational databases Oracle enterprise solutions preferred (database management, PLSQL, triggers and embedded functions), extensive experience delivering solutions end-to-end (design through to deployment and support) and familiarity and/or exposure with HR and Payroll Systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting formal quality assurance testing and supporting user acceptance testing.
  • Ability to address and meet focus capabilities as stated in the Position Description.

HIGHLY REGARDED

  • Understanding of modern build chain (CI/CD & IaC) configuration and deployments.
  • Containerisation configuration and development inclusive of securely managing application secrets.
  • Exposure to monitoring tools (eg: new relic, sumologic, splunk) and the ability to translate value to the platform team
