Bonnyrigg Public School is a school of 279 students K-6 and 40 preschool students who attend a partial program. Bonnyrigg Public School is situated in South-Western Sydney, on Dharug land, where the traditional custodians are the Cabrogal people.

The Bonnyrigg area is undergoing a major reconstruction with existing housing in the estate being demolished and rebuilt.

Bonnyrigg Public School serves a low socioeconomic and highly multicultural community with almost 70% English as an Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) students and 17% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. Cultural backgrounds include Samoan, Thai, Cambodian, Vietnamese (which is the largest group) and Arabic-speaking.

Selection Criteria

• Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with demonstrated ability to effectively deliver high quality literacy and numeracy programs that improve learning outcomes for all students, including English as Additional Language/Dialect (EAL/D) and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students.
• Willing to innovatively integrate technology into effective classroom practice to enhance teaching and learning.
• Willing to teach and contribute to whole-school activities, including extra-curricular music programs.
• High quality classroom management skills and ability to promote a positive learning environment with high expectations, to enhance student wellbeing and engagement.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

From 8 November 2021 all Department of Education employees undertaking relevant work, including any work conducted on a NSW school site, will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The successful candidate for this position will be required to confirm full vaccination status prior to the Department of Education finalising the appointment of the candidate and entry on duty.
