Position Information
Located in the Girraween network, Northmead Public School opened in 1924 with current student enrolment numbers of 721. The school has a diverse population with approximately 40% from a language background other than English. Less than 1% of student population identify as being Aboriginal.

Selection Criteria

1. In addition to the general selection criteria, approval to teach infants and/or primary underpinned by strong curriculum knowledge and the ability to balance exemplary classroom teaching practice with the complexities of the leadership aspects of the Assistant Principal role.
2. Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with an extensive, innovative Learning and Support team, including other Instructional Leaders, to co-lead the analysis and use of data to inform effective, evidence-based, differentiated teaching practice to bring about continual improvement for every student.
3. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with a proven capacity to lead, mentor and inspire innovation and change.
4. Proven commitment to building and strengthening a collaborative learning culture in a school.

General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies

Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
