The Opportunity

TAFE NSW is looking for individuals with current industry experience and knowledge in Screen and Media, specialising in Animation, to join our team of teachers on a casual basis based in Western Sydney.

The role of the TAFE Teacher as a professional educator is to help, construct, guide and enhance the educative process. The teacher delivers educational programs and facilitates learning, enabling students to achieve their desired outcomes.

About You

You will love this position if you’re passionate about 2D and 3D animation and you enjoy a hands-on teaching role that is flexible, and outcome focussed. In your day to day, you will:

  • provide appropriate variety and flexibility in educational practice;
  • undertake assessment and evaluation of learning outcomes;
  • maintain and develop professional relevance and expertise in educational and technical disciplines;
  • contribute to decision-making that affects the learning environment;
  • liaise with local industry, other educational providers and the community to ensure that education and training are relevant and responsive to needs;
  • participate cooperatively in the development and implementation of agreed quality improvement processes by reflecting on experience, their own performance and an evaluation of processes and program outcomes.

To be considered for this role you will have:

  1. A Degree, Advanced Diploma, Diploma in Screen & Media or equivalent in a related field
  2. Three (3) years post degree or equivalent, relevant and current experience in one or more of the following discipline areas: 2D and/or 3D animation focus, Video Production; Video Editing; Interactivity and Interface Design; AR/VR production; Social Media
  3. Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) or equivalent
  4. Evidence demonstrating current and relevant professional and practical industry experience with link to current showreel and/ or portfolio of work
  5. Demonstrated knowledge within Screen and Media industry of 2D and 3D animation programs including but not limited to Autodesk Maya, Blender, Cinema 4D, Unreal Engine, Unity, Adobe Creative Cloud, Adobe Substance, Adobe Animate, Character Animator, ToonBoom Harmony, Storyboard. 
  6. High level written and verbal communication skills in English.
  7. Commitment and ability to facilitate learning in an adult environment.
  8. Demonstrated commitment to quality customer service.
  9. Demonstrated commitment to maintaining professional currency.
  10. Demonstrated ability to contribute to a team environment.
