The Learning and Support teacher will provide advice to teachers, provide direct and timely specialist assistance to students who require additional support in regular classes and liaise with parents and outside agencies.This position is supported by a strong Learning and Support Team.

Selection Criteria

Approval to teach students with learning and support needs (secondary) and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs (secondary) in regular classes. Capacity to provide specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs and their teachers.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish effective partnerships with students, staff, families, service providers and the wider community.

Capacity to lead the development of individualised learning plans that respond to social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of students.

Evidence of classroom practice, which highlights differentiation and the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.


An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
