The Skills and Higher Education Directorate supports students to access secondary and post-school education and training services. We collaborate to develop policy, pilot innovative ideas, and deliver programs to enhance skills, knowledge and qualifications.

About the role

Our Educational Pathways Program (EPP) is an innovative, Ministerial and executive priority program designed to improve career advice, increase School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs) and help students and young people further their education.

We are currently expanding our team of School-Based Apprenticeship and Traineeship (SBAT) Engagement Officer’s, with multiple opportunities available across both regional and metropolitan locations within New South Wales.

About you

Would you be interested in applying your project management, stakeholder engagement, communications and business skills to successfully implement and deliver a strategic initiative that aims to improve higher education and career outcomes for young people across NSW?

Would you enjoy working in a team minded environment, that actively encourages proactivity, creative thinking, values learning, and supports staff to successfully lead projects to timely completion?

As an SBAT Engagement Officer you will join a team focused on increasing the number of students and employers participating in School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships and provide tailored support to students, parents, schools, RTOs and employers to make the SBAT process as easy as possible.

You will be collaborative, solution focused and passionate about supporting young people reach their career and vocational goals.

In addition to the above and to be successful in this role, we are looking for you to have:

  • Demonstrated experience in Vocational Education and Training, Apprenticeships and Traineeships and/or work-based youth programs
  • Appropriate tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as education, business, youth work and/or equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Capability to work with industry to source employment opportunities
  • Well-developed communication, engagement, negotiation and planning skills
  • A valid Working with Children Check (WWCC) clearance
  • A valid NSW Drivers Licence
  • Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
