An Advisory Visiting Teacher- Hearing Impairment is an experienced teacher of the deaf who provides specific information on the nature of a student's impairment and appropriate educational adjustments to classroom teachers and school teams. AVTs assist school teams to understand the functional impact of a student's disability in a range of learning environments.

This role requires:

  • Knowledge of and the ability to support classroom teachers to implement effective and inclusive teaching and learning processes
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the P-12 curriculum, assessment and reporting framework, the Australian Curriculum P-10 and the Senior Secondary Curriculum
  • Monitoring the use of recommended specialised equipment and supporting the uptake of assistive technologies where appropriate
  • Assisting education staff and families to access support networks for students with disability
  • Travel across the Metropolitan Region.

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.   • Qualifications or significant experience in working within your area/s of specialisation
  • Own transport and Queensland Driver's licence
