St Mary's Catholic School, Bowen is a co-educational primary school located in Bowen. St Mary’s is proudly the first Catholic school established in the Townsville Diocese and has 151 students from Prep to Year 6. Established by The Sisters of St Joseph in 1873, the parents of St Mary’s Catholic Parish have banded together with the help of religious orders and the wider Church to educate children with Jesus as the role model and Gospel values at its heart. About the role
St Mary's Catholic School, Bowen is seeking an experienced and dedicated School Chaplain. This position is a Term Time position, completing a minimum of 10 hours a week.
The role of the Chaplain is to work in collaborative partnership with the school community to provide pastoral and spiritual support to students.
The Chaplain works to create opportunities for faith development of students and advance the religious life of the college community. The Chaplain will foster the experience of Catholic community within the College and engage the community in social justice and social action. The Chaplain encourages and facilitates connections with Church/faith communities and agencies.

The Townsville Catholic Education Office is based in Townsville, employing more than 70 staff members who service schools in various areas of speciality - religious education, curriculum, ICT, Indigenous education, counselling, speech pathology, hearing and vision impairment, early years education, employment services, finance, planning and development and marketing.
The Diocesan Education Council is the advisory body representing Catholic Education. Headed by the Bishop, the Council comprises members who reflect the interests and views of various groups associated with the teaching mission of the Church. The DEC in conjunction with the Director and Leadership team ensure the direction of the organisation runs in harmony with the Church's mission and vision for Catholic education in the Diocese.
