Melville Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of passionate, dynamic and highly skilled Mathematics Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year.

Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

We currently have one (1) permanent, full time position to appoint for Term 1, 2022, however other fixed term positions may also become available for Term 1, 2022.

We are seeking teachers with the drive to develop a culture of excellence in teaching and learning, with a particular focus on the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) domains. Suitable applicants should be dedicated and intrinsically motivated to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the needs of our students.

Applicants will ideally have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to teach students of varying ability levels across Year 7 – 12 in a highly engaging manner.

Strong knowledge and skills in the teaching of one or more of the following courses or program areas is advantageous: Year 11 and/or 12 Specialist, Methods, Applicable Mathematics and Gifted and Talented.

Suitable applicants will ideally have an extensive working knowledge of teaching strategies to support numeracy skills development and in NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy).

At Melville SHS we are committed to improving the literacy and numeracy skills of our students in lower school to support their achievement across the Year 7 - 10 curriculum and to provide a solid platform for their success in both General and ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admission Rank) level courses in Senior School.

Refined knowledge and skills in the effective integration of Information and Communicateion Technology into classroom teaching and learning is also desirable.

Suitable applicants will ideally have the required knowledge and skills to scaffold difficult concepts, apply a range of engaging teaching strategies and develop a positive classroom learning environment, that fosters in students a genuine passion for Mathematics and the desire to achieve their best.

Suitable applicants will ideally possess the necessary skills to work collaboratively as part of a team to maximise learning outcomes for students and to support ongoing school improvement.
