Position Information
Carlingford West Public School was established in 1967 and is located within the Hills district and the federal electorate of Parramatta. The school is set in a quiet residential location and features include spacious and leafy surrounds. Student enrolment numbers are currently 1760. 95% of our students are from a non–English speaking background and represent a wide variety of cultural groups, primarily Chinese, Korean and Indian. Chinese and Korean community language programs are offered to students. Our staff range from recent graduate teachers through to highly experienced teachers who are extremely dedicated and passionate about our school. Staff are supported to develop innovative and evidence- based teaching and learning strategies through tailored professional learning programs based on their needs. The school reflects a high degree of community involvement and support of our programs, initiatives, and expectations. As the Macquarie University Primary Hub School we have strong links and programs supporting the Tertiary Education Students and have developed a focus on outdoor education to balance our strong classroom expectations and performance. The schools technology policy supports iPad technology and the development of future focused learning. The school provides opportunities for students to participate in a large variety of sporting and cultural pursuits in addition to our academic programs. Extra curricula activities are available in areas such as table tennis, running club, tennis, art and chess. Students are encouraged to develop their leadership skills through participation in the Student Representative Council, Buddy Patrol and House Captains roles. The school has a strong focus on the social and emotional wellbeing of all students. Parents value education and are very supportive of the school and its programs.

Selection Criteria

  1. Approval to teach infants and primary (K-6) with demonstrated experience in explicit literacy and numeracy in a large school setting, with a high EALD population, leading to improved student outcomes and engagement.
  2. Strong classroom management skills and wellbeing practices with the capacity to cater for a diverse range of students.
  3. Highly developed organisational, interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated by the ability to work flexibly and build positive, collaborative relationships with students, staff, parents, and the community.
  4. Highly developed skills with technology in order, to authentically embed technology with purpose to enhance student learning outcomes (ICT).
  5. Demonstrated ability to lead whole school programs including outdoor education and creative and performing arts initiatives.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
