About the role
Leading and managing counselling and psychological services for students as well as the development of policies, procedures and innovative approaches to meeting the psychological health and wellbeing needs of students in NSW public schools.

Selection criteria

  1. Tertiary qualifications and extensive current educational leadership experience
  2. Demonstrated understanding of the professional standards and accreditation processes and capacity to manage systems supporting accreditation processes
  3. Demonstrated superior liaison, consultation and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders in a politically sensitive environment
  4. Extensive knowledge and understanding of curriculum, professional practice, policies, legislation, initiatives and current research in education at state, national and international levels
  5. High level management skills and experience, including leadership, people and resource management skills and the capacity to develop staff through the implementation of the Performance Development Framework
  6. High level ability to effectively manage conflicting priorities and tight timeframes and to develop advice on complex policies and strategies, based on sound judgement in a strategic context
  7. Superior knowledge of the research and literature and a capacity to apply such knowledge to ensure that a range of evidence based services and support available to schools, networks and across the state
  8. Superior analytical, planning, and conceptual skills, combined with innovative and creative problem solving skills for the provision of expert advice and the development of innovative solutions and strategies
  9. Current registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  10. Knowledge of and commitment to implementing the Department’s Aboriginal Education Policy and upholding the Department’s Partnership Agreement with the NSW AECG and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people.
