Position Information
Tempe High School has an enrolment of 960 students. 67% of students are from non-English Speaking background and 3% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our extracurricular music ensembles are an integral part of showcasing the high potential of Tempe High School students and include the following: wind, choir, ukulele, rock and jazz. Creative experimentation with technology in music is an essential component in building our students' capacity in the Creative Arts.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach music in Stage 4, Stage 5 and Stage 6, and a willingness to teach Music Extension 1 and 2, as well as an interest in promoting individual, ensemble instrumental, choral and vocal music in the school.
  • Proven capacity to work collaboratively both within the CAPA faculty and across the school to maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively implement technology in the classroom, using modern and innovative practices, with a focus on improving teaching and learning.
  • Ability to promote and run band programs as well as identify and manage maintenance of musical instruments and technology.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
