Job Description

Stanthorpe State High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate leader to join the team. As the Deputy Principal focus on Senior Secondary, you will share the executive leadership of the school. Included in (but not limited to) your portfolio of responsibilities is the leadership of the improvement domains of data usage, systematic curriculum delivery and an expert teaching team. Additionally you will be required to line manage 4 Heads of Departments, oversee the QCE/SATE program, organize whole school events and provide behavioral support/guidance for students in Years 10-12. This role is expected to commence on 20 January 2022.

About Stanthorpe State High School

Stanthorpe State High School is a school of approximately 750 students from years 7-12 situated in Stanthorpe, on the Granite Belt. The Granite Belt is predominantly a farming community with a population of approximately 11,000. In recent years there has been significant advancement in the wine and tourism industries. The nature of primary industry is predominantly horticulture - deciduous fruit and vegetables, with pastoral industries making up a smaller part.

Your Role

As the Deputy Principal you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
  • Deputise for the Principal when required.
  • Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
  • Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
  • Set high standards for student and staff performance.
  • Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
  • Form partnerships with parents, other government agencies, community groups, industry and business.
  • Be futures oriented and strategic.
  • Understand the legislation and policies that impact on schooling.
  • Manage resources to achieve goals.

A mandatory requirement of this role is:

  • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland. 
  • Teachers working in Education and Care Services (including State Delivered Kindergarten programs) require an exemption card issued by Blue Card Services.
