Teacher – Queensland Virtual Stem Academy (QVSA) Project - (Tropical North Learning Academy – Smithfield SHS) (Temporary 0.5 FTE position – contact days to be negotiated with the successful applicant) A unique opportunity exists for an experienced STEM teacher with advanced STEM learning/experience to join the Tropical North Learning Academy - Smithfield State High School (TNLA – SSHS) as the Queensland Virtual Stem Academy (QVSA) Project - Host Site teacher. You will be employed by and based at the Tropical North Learning Academy – Smithfield SHS.
The QVSA Project is an exciting initiative of Advancing Education: An action plan for Education in Queensland focused on engaging and challenging the best and brightest students from years 5 to 9.
QVSA Project delivers enrichment and enhancement programs focusing on current, real world science, technology, engineering and mathematic challenges and research. It is part of a network of schools across the state. Students have an opportunity to build a portfolio of learning experiences underpinned by 21st century learning skills including inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, curiosity and collaboration.
As a QVSA Host Site Teacher you will deliver the project using a combination of virtual and face to face delivery modes to teach students at participating schools. You will work as part of a supportive team based at the school and at remote sites around the state.
