Job Description

The Turn to Teaching Internship Program (TTT Program) will provide aspiring teachers with financial support while they complete their post-graduate studies, making a career change into the teaching profession more attractive by reducing the financial impact of commencing a degree in teaching.

Completing an internship in a Queensland Government state school will provide you with additional classroom experience while you study, building your confidence to step into the classroom in a permanent teaching role with the Department of Education. Additionally, you will be engaged in a supportive and diverse school community and have an opportunity to experience living and working in a rural or remote location.

Program benefits
Successful applicants will receive a scholarship payment of $20,000 in their first year of post-graduate study and full-time paid employment in an internship position at a Queensland state school (with a reduced workload - 50%) while completing their second year of post-graduate study.

Eligibility for the TTT program

To be eligible applicants must:

  • be eligible for enrolment in one of the following postgraduate courses:
    • Master of Secondary Teaching or Master of Primary Teaching at Griffith University
    • Master of Learning and Teaching (Secondary) or Master of Learning and Teaching (Primary) at the University of Southern Queensland
  • be willing to undertake an internship at any state (primary or secondary) school in Queensland;
  • demonstrate commitment to teach in a Queensland state school in a priority subject area including Sciences, Technologies, Mathematics, Languages, and Special Education and/or a priority location upon completion of the program; and
  • be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia.

Program offers
Intake for the 2022 TTT Program is limited, however subsequent intakes will be advertised for 2023 and 2024.

Successful applicants will receive a conditional offer of placement into the TTT Program until evidence of enrolment into the relevant post-graduate ITE course at either Griffith University or University of Southern Queensland is provided.

A formal letter of offer and deed will be provided upon confirmation of enrolment into the ITE course.
