Level 3, $118,626 - $129,810 per annum (SEA GA 2019)
Advertised Vacancy Number: SS/SA702657

This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 4, 2021

The Alternative Learning Settings (ALS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated Program Coordinator to be part of a developing initiative.

The Program Coordinator will lead and manage a multi-disciplinary team located in Kununurra.

There are a number of ALS sites located in the metropolitan and regional areas of Western Australia (WA), and there are plans for expanding the program in 2022.

Each setting accommodates up to 10 students who have been excluded or are at high risk of exclusion.

The program provides an intensive, short-tern individualised program of support with a focus on developing students’ social skills and ability to self-regulate in environments designed to effect positive change.

The role of the Program Coordinator is essential to coordinating a responsive and effective model of onsite student support that is aligned with the ALS model of delivery.

The successful applicant will lead a team of teachers and student support officers to deliver a responsive social and emotional learning program that supports students’ engagement and ultimately leads to successful transition back to the student’s enrolled school.

The Program Coordinator will provide professional leadership, coaching and mentoring to ALS staff to continue to build their capacity to ensure coordination of wrap-around services and support is undertaken in collaboration with the school, parents and relevant agencies that result in success for the student.

You will ideally have skills in maintaining professional boundaries while adopting a student-centric approach that aids in contributing to positive student outcomes.

Your high-level communication skills and ability to build and maintain strong community and education partnerships will be essential.

In addition, you will ideally be able to display skills in crisis management and the development of personalised student de-escalation strategies.

Alternative Leaning Settings staff benefit from working in a collaborative team environment, sharing common goals and resources in supporting students, schools and parents.

In collaboration with the Associate Principal, the Program Coordinator will identify and broker appropriate support agencies and educational alternatives to support students excluded or at risk of being excluded.

The Program Coordinator will lead and coordinate the involvement of services available at a system and local level.

They will contribute to ensure quality support is provided for students and families in making informed choices about educational provision for their child, as well as work with school staff to develop pathways and transition support for students.

The successful applicant may be required to travel, including overnight stays and air travel.

This role will also require the successful applicant to hold and maintain a WA driver’s licence.

All functions of Statewide Services support successful outcomes for all students. This is achieved through a focus on better integration of services with schools, students, families and external service providers; supporting schools and networks of schools to deliver high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom; and creating expanded opportunities for students to develop the academic, personal and social competencies they will need for participation in the workforce and society of the future.
