Job Description

Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. Part Time (6 hours 20 minutes/week) - Temporary (to December 2021)

We currently have a position available for a temporary Diploma Educator at the Leslie Gribble Kindergarten working 6 hours and 20 minutes on Wednesdays during school term only.

We are looking for an educator with the ability to make all families and children feel welcome and accepted, who enjoys working with children in supporting them to succeed, who is reliable and enthusiastic and who will bring new and innovative ideas based on current early childhood theory and practice to enhance the service program.

To be successful in this position, applicants will have:

  • Clear communication and literacy skills that foster staff, family and community collaboration.
  • Inclusive practices that engages the child to promote a love of learning.
  • The best interests of the child at the base of all you do.

It is a requirement of the role that you will have the skills/qualifications and experience relevant to the position as recognised by the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development in accordance with the National Framework including:

  • Diploma Children's Services.
  • Current First Aid level 2 qualification.
  • Criminal history check (within six months).
  • Current and valid Working with Children Check.
  • Current Anaphylaxis Management training.
  • Current Asthma Management training.

A current food handlers certificate is desirable but not essential.

Note: This position is subject to a 6 month qualifying period in accordance with the Fair Work Australia minimum employment period.
