Job Description

Greater Shepparton City Council, situated in the heart of the Goulburn Valley, is the fourth largest provincial centre in Victoria and has a well-developed economy due to its strong agricultural and irrigation base, with major industries related to food processing, manufacturing and transport. The Goulburn Valley is often referred to as 'The Food Bowl of Australia' as around 25% of the total value of Victoria's agricultural production is generated in this area.

Greater Shepparton has a population of approximately 65,000, and an expenditure budget in excess of $118 million. The population is culturally diverse with 9.9% of residents being born overseas. The area has excellent education, recreation, cultural, social and health facilities and tourism is a developing focus for the region.

Mooroopna Integrated Early Learning Centre

Salary: $67,741.44 per annum

An exciting opportunity exists for a suitably qualified and experienced person to fill the position of Early Childhood Education - Service Leader at the new Mooroopna Integrated Early Learning Centre.

This new purpose built service is located on the Mooroopna Primary School grounds, integrating multi-disciplinary practices which will support collaborative practise between all Early Years agencies, Mooroopna Primary School, Long Day Care, Maternal Child Health and children and families. Our service will offer a welcoming and friendly space whereby children and families feel they belong.

This position suits a person with experience in leadership, family and agency engagement skills and an extensive knowledge of the National Quality Framework and Early Childhood Code of Ethics. The ability to make connections within the wider community will ensure equitable access, enrichment and inclusion for all families and children.

Minimum requirement is a Diploma in Children's Services, extensive experience in working with and managing Children's Services or large teams of educators and proven ability to support educators and families to achieve better outcomes for children.

This is a full time permanent position. The centre operational hours will be 7.30am - 6.00pm Monday to Friday, incorporating long day care, Kindergarten and Pre-Kindergarten programs for up to 102 children.

The successful applicant will be able to:

  • Research current trends and practices to enhance the service's ongoing commitment to quality improvement;
  • Participate in Council recruitment processes;
  • Ensure the provision and maintenance of high quality, flexible and culturally relevant and inclusive early childhood services which meet the needs of a diverse user group;
  • Ensure the coordination of all service delivery for the Centre; providing support, direction and assistance to staff and educators within the relevant program areas, whilst assisting them to implement best practice early childhood education and care and appropriate, effective business practices;
  • Provide professional advice and assistance to the public and other stakeholders to ensure easy access to all relevant services; and
  • Communicate effectively with clients and colleagues and able to positively resolve conflict with effective customer service skills and experience.

You will have the support of the Council Early Years Services network and work as part of a team that supports the development and protection of the emotional and physical wellbeing of children and their families in an education and care setting.

Applicants must have a minimum Diploma in Children's Services, however, a Bachelor in Early Childhood is desirable, a current police check, valid working with children check, Level 2 First Aid, Asthma/Anaphylaxis management certificates and current CPR.
