Position Information

Narara Valley High School is a dynamic comprehensive high school on the Central Coast of approximately 790 students including 73 Aboriginal students and a Support Unit of 54 students. The school caters for students of all ability levels and has a strong focus on academic achievement, wellbeing and supporting community needs. Narara Valley High School has achieved national recognition as a Power House School and a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Action School for its successful approach to innovation and learning.

The school provides specialist programs in Creative and Performing Arts, Targeted Sport, Enrichment and Acceleration. In addition to this, the school also has a Young Parents Program and an intensive learning support team. The school is a partner school of The Valley Schools Learning Community and has established strong links with local businesses, AECG and community organisations which further support the school's educational, wellbeing and transition programs.   3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
  4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
  5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
  6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people


If you have not held a substantive principal position in a NSW Public School at any time in the past five (5) years, you need to have completed the NSW Public School Leadership and Management Credential to be eligible to apply, and you will need to attach a copy of your provisional credential certificate or final credential certificate as part of your application.

 An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school’s RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal level P4 for 2021.
