Position Information

Vincentia High School is a vibrant co-educational, comprehensive; community school located in Jervis Bay on the south coast of New South Wales with a student population of 1190 students and approximately 150 staff. Sixteen percent of our students identify as Aboriginal and are supported by a range of cultural and wellbeing programs including Clontarf. In 2021, we host fourteen support classes catering for students with a range of disabilities including intellectual, physical, autism, mental health and emotional disturbance.

Vincentia High School is an important member of the Bay and Basin Learning Community serving the educational needs of students from our local primary schools of Vincentia, Huskisson, Tomerong, St Georges Basin, Sanctuary Point, Sussex Inlet and Jervis Bay. We have forged strong partnerships with all our partner primary schools and the local business community.

The school has an expansive curriculum that caters for the learning needs of our students across all learning pathways. The integration of technology into teaching and learning is a whole school focus as part of our curriculum delivery.

Selection Criteria

  • Approval to teach special education and/or successful experience teaching students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum disorder, physical disabilities, complex needs and challenging behaviours.
  • Demonstrated ability to differentiate the curriculum to promote engagement, learning and independence, including experience in designing, implementing and monitoring personalised learning support plans to meet the learning and wellbeing needs, goals and interests of students with a disability.
  • Demonstrated strong classroom management skills and wellbeing practices with the capacity to cater for a diverse range of students whilst managing the complex dynamics of a Support Unit classroom.
  • Capacity to implement the Department of Education Aboriginal Education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal students.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to establish effective partnerships with families, community, service providers and colleagues to achieve improved outcomes for students.
