Living in Cooktown
Cooktown is located on the east coast of Cape York approximately 331km north of Cairns. Home to approximately 2700 people, Cooktown is a popular destination for tourists, owing to its close proximity to the Great Barrier Reef, and famed fishing. Cooktown lies in Guugu Yimithirr country and the traditional language of the area is Guugu Yimithirr – traditional language is undergoing revival to ensure it is preserved for the future generations.   • Current full registration or current provisional registration with eligibility for full registration, as a teacher in Queensland.
