The School of Special Education Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN MMH) are seeking a Resource and Information Communication Technology (ICT) officer to join their friendly team.

Suitable applicants will ideally be able to provide innovative approaches and work collaboratively with other resource centre team members, as well as corporate services and teaching staff, in an open office environment.

Connection to education through ICT is a major aspect of our school planning and budget allocation. Suitable applicants will ideally be experienced in using the variety of resource and technology systems utilised by SSEN:MMH which support all staff and students in accessing a diverse range of library resources and digital technologies.

The role is located in the metropolitan area at Perth Children’s Hospital and assists SSEN MMH staff across the state in all areas related to library resources and ICT. Aspects of this job entail travelling across sites in the metropolitan area.

SSEN:MMH is a dynamic and highly experienced team working with students from kindergarten to year 12. School staff work across the state responding to diverse student needs within a holistic framework of family, students' enrolled schools (both government and non-government), community support systems and the health community.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Good verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills with ability to effectively liaise with individuals at all levels.
  • Good computer skills and ability to use a range of information management systems and application software packages including databases, spreadsheets and word processing.
  • Good conceptual and analytical skills, including ability to develop innovative solutions to information and technology problems.
  • Initiative and good organisational skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.

ELIGIBILITY

Employees will be required to:

  • Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
  • Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
  • Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.

TRAINING

Employees will be required to:

  • Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
