Approved teachers, apply for a Teach and Learn Scholarship to become a teacher of a high-demand subject area.

Teach and Learn Scholars receive:

  • Up to $20,000 per year of full-time study based on 8 subjects (paid pro-rata for part-time study)
  • $500 per week (up to a maximum of $5,000) financial assistance while completing the university practicum requirement
  • up to eight days of study leave per year (12 months) of full time study for permanent and temporary teachers
  • a permanent appointment to a NSW public school on completion of studies

Eligible applicants are Australian citizens or permanent residents who:

  • have a current permanent full time teaching approval with the NSW Department of Education; and
  • have a minimum of one year full time equivalent teaching experience, or have completed 203 casual/temporary teaching days; and
  • be enrolled in or committed to enrolling in studies for Semester 1, 2022, that will meet the department’s and the NSW Education Standards Authority’s (NESA) academic requirements; and
  • be willing to enter into a Scholarship Agreement, a legally binding agreement that outlines the responsibilities of both the scholarship recipient and the department; and
  • be willing to complete the required studies within the maximum two year period; and
  • be willing to accept appointment as a permanent full time teacher to a NSW public school on completion of studies and remain in this appointment for a minimum period of three years.

The closing date for the receipt of applications and supporting documentation for the 2022 Teach and Learn Scholarship for High Demand Subjects is 27 August 2021.
