Carnamah District High School (DHS) is seeking to appoint a hard working and motivated Home Economics Assistant to join our friendly and supportive team.
The successful applicant will be required to work effectively in a team environment, and should therefore be able to demonstrate initiative and organisational skills in order to achieve this consistently. Strong communication skills are essential for the role, which will include communicating with students and teaching professionals on a regular basis. Previous experience in safe and hygienic storage and handling of food and the use of sewing machines is desirable.
The successful applicant will be required to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment by maintaining equipment, materials and resources for use in classes, and assist the teacher with clean and safe storage of items after classes and activities.
The successful applicant will also be required to undertake regular cleaning activities as directed, assist with the management of resources by maintaining and updating inventory lists, collating recipes, purchasing groceries and monitoring stock levels and requirements, and reporting these to the teacher. They will also provide administrative support.
Carnamah DHS offers a quality educational programme to students from Kindergarten to Year 12. Carnamah is situated 300 kilometres north of Perth, and 185 kilometres south-east of Geraldton, within the Midwest Education Region. Our robust early childhood programmes create an ideal start for students and our award winning vocational education programme offers strong incentives to complete Year 11 and 12 at Carnamah DHS.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
