An exciting opportunity exists for an enthusiastic Teacher Aide to join the Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre. As the Teacher Aide, you will contribute to the provision of quality educational service by assisting and supporting teachers with the preparation and enhancement of learning materials and associated activities. The Teacher Aide reports to the Principal or nominated delegate as appropriate. The reporting relationship to teachers may be changed by the Principal on a regular basis to fulfil specific needs within the school. When supporting students with specific health procedures, a Teacher Aide will be under the direct or indirect supervision of a registered nurse or medical practitioner.

About Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre:
The Brisbane Youth Education and Training Centre (BYETC) is a co-educational school that delivers educational programs for up to 162 remanded and sentenced young people at the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre. Students from BYETC have diverse learning needs and come from a range of cultural backgrounds. Our staff are passionate about helping improve the knowledge, skills and abilities of our students, many of whom have had disrupted or negative experiences of schooling. We seek to educate the whole person by providing opportunities for growth, development and learning which will prepare young people for a balanced worthwhile future.
We are looking for a competent all-rounder who can work across multiple disciplines. The successful applicant will work under the direction of the teacher, to assist in the classroom and support and encourage students in their learning.

About the Role:
The role of a teacher aide is incredibly varied and includes but is not limited to general classroom support, especially in the areas of literacy and numeracy; preparation of resources (including technology) and administrative duties such as photocopying and filing.
