This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2022

Baldivis Secondary College is seeking to appoint a highly motivated and innovative Program Coordinator – Student Services, to join our dedicated Student Services team.

The successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative team-oriented leader who has outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to create and maintain strong working relationships. They will add valuable expertise to the College’s Senior Leadership Team.

You will have an understanding of and the ability to highlight areas of need and use these skills to lead and bring about positive change to refine services in the support of students, parents and teachers. In addition, as the Student Services Manager of Year 7 to Year 9, you will work closely with the Students Services Manager of Year 10 to Year 12 to build and maintain a cohesive Student Services Team.

The Student Services Manager of Year 7 to Year 9 will initiate a range of multi-disciplinary support mechanism for those students who require additional assistance to develop high levels of independence and autonomy and the skills, knowledge and attitudes necessary to participate in the global community as productive citizen.

To be successful in this role, you will be committed to supporting student achievement using a positive approach method to student engagement, health and wellbeing. The successful applicant will be a dynamic and innovative leader who has outstanding interpersonal, organisational and communication skills and the ability to create and maintain strong working relationships.

Working closely with the Year 7, 8 and 9 Year Coordinators you will oversee the pastoral care, academic performance, attendance and behaviour of all students in Years 7 to 9. Collectively, you will lead and work collaboratively with other school leaders and staff to ensure every child is on a pathway to success.

The specific roles and responsibilities of the role are as follows:

  • Track student performance, attendance and behaviour and lead intervention initiatives to illicit improvements in all three areas.
  • Ensure the provision of student support strategies for both individual and small groups of students, according to the school’s needs.
  • Administer the College’s Good Standing Policy (Years 7 to 9).
  • Coordinate the Year 6 to 7 Transition Program.
  • Liaise with external agencies.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of documented plans.
  • Coordinate and lead the College’s SAER Team (Years 7 to 9)
  • Work with Curriculum Team Leaders and individual teachers, where necessary to ensure the individual needs of Year 7, 8 and 9 SAER students are met.
  • Financial management of the Student Services (Years 7 to 9) Cost Centre.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:

  • Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
  • High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
  • Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
  • Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

Employees will be required to:

  • hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;

Employees will be required to:

  • complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
  • complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
  • complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.

The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
